Can I send you my MRI or X-ray for your opinion?
Short answer: no.
Long answer: I totally understand why you might be concerned about your MRI or X-ray results—but here are three things I want you to know:
-
Nobody here is qualified to read MRIs or X-rays.
I’m not a radiologist or orthopedic specialist, so I can’t interpret your scans.
-
Your scan results aren’t that useful anyway.
A preponderance of evidence shows that MRIs and X-rays are worse than useless. They show “abnormalities” that are actually quite normal in people with no symptoms. This is true in hips, knees, spines, and shoulders. In other words, what you see often has nothing to do with your pain.
-
Scans lead only one direction.
Once you get a scan, it’s easy for doctors to blame your pain on what they see, even if it’s not the real cause. This leads down a road of increasingly invasive and expensive procedures with poor long-term success rates (like surgery).
