Is the Healthy Hips program good if I have hip dysplasia?
Yes, the Healthy Hips program can be helpful if you have hip dysplasia—but you’ll want to focus heavily on strength, reactivation, and coordination to support and stabilize the joint.
Many people with hip dysplasia are naturally hypermobile, so stretching and tissue work should be minimal. Instead, prioritize the strengthening exercises and move at a slow, patient pace. Comfort is key.
We’ve had students with hip dysplasia use the program successfully—just be sure to remember:
Any exercise can be done too quickly, with too much force, or beyond your current comfortable range. Doing so invariably leads to injury!
Don’t force end ranges or push through pinching pain. If you do feel pinching, try gently activating the surrounding muscles. This can help re-center the joint and create more stability.
